Rasam Recipe

   "This recipe is called Rasam in South India, where we can also called it as Indian tomato spice soup. Also this recipe popularly known to intake for the good digestion. If anyone is suffereing from constipation or fever, this recipe helps to digest food faster." 

Ingredients -

Vegetables:
  • Onion - 1/2 medium size
  • Tomato Paste - 1 Spoon
  • Tomatoes - 2 medium sized
Common Ingredients:
  • Oil - 2 Spoons   
  • Tamarind - 2 Spoons
  • Garlic - 3 Cloves 
  • Cumin powder - 1 Spoon
  • Fried cumin Powder - 1/2 spoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 Spoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 Spoon
  • Curry leaves
  • Green chilies - 2 to 3 (cut into small pieces)
  • Salt to taste
  • Paprika
  • Coriander Leaves - 3 stems
  • Chana daal - 1/2 Spoon
  • Mustard seeds -1/2 spoon

Cooking Directions -
Step 1:
  • Tomato is the main ingredient for this. We can use 2 tomatoes diced into small pieces or we can use 2 Spoons of tomato paste or we can use one tomato and a spoon of tomato paste. I generally use Hunt's tomato paste.
Step 2:
  • In a cooking pan, pour some oil. when oil is cooked, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, chana daal, mustard seeds.
  • Mash the garlic cloves and add them to the oil too.
  • when eveythingin th pan turned light brown, then onions to it. lt the onions fry, then add tomatoes and well cook them.
  • If we are adding paste, just add it and stir it well.
  • Add cumin powder, coriander powder, fried cumin powder, salt, green chillies.
  • Add tamarind juice and mix it wwell, add more water based on the thickness we want.
  • At the end, add the red chilli powder.
  • we can drink it directly from the bowl as a soup or eat it with rice, makes u feel so comfortable.
